Robin Dransfield's liner notes explain that the group came a bit too late in the folk-rock scene, missing the wave of popularity of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span (though this album really doesn't sound like either of them) in the early 70s; by , when the album was released, the British music scene was on the verge of a seismic shift 5/5(2).

8. Frustrations during the tour led to heated arguments between Robin & Barry Dransfield, resulting in the group disbanding. Although Barry credited the ambitious but poor-selling album The Fiddler's Dream, based on tales of a fictitious traveling fiddler, to the band, it was primarily a solo effort.
